Pancreas cancer

Pancreas cancer and precancerous cysts can be difficult to diagnose. Sometimes biopsies do not show cancer when cancer is actually present. Pancreas cancer is one of the most fatal among the cancers. The mortality rate is high due to the lack of tools for proper diagnosis and effective therapeutics. Pancreas cancer cells were transduced in vitro with HS-tk vector in presence of media or ascitic

fluid and treated with GCV.

Pancreas cancer is one of the most difficult cancer to detect and treat. We provide the first pancreas cancer screeninng method, using state-of-the-art CT scanner, in Japan. Our aim is to detect this pancreas cancer at its early stage andto protect life from this disease. Pancreas cancer, also called pancreatic cancer, occurs when cancer cells form in the tissues of the pancreas. About 32,000 new cases of pancreatic cancer are diagnosed each year in the United States.

Pancreatic cancer is a silent killer, as its symptoms are so insidious that most people are not diagnosed until the disease has advanced beyond the stage where surgical resection is possible. Even among surgical candidates, removal of the diseased pancreas and surrounding tissues is rarely curative. Pancreatic cancer is rare before the age of 40 years, incidence increases sharply with increasing age. Pancreatic cancer is incurable and chemotherapy will only slow it down.

Pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas, is an example. There are two forms of this. Pancreatic cancer or pancreas cancer prognosis differs from patient to patient. This is because the in some patients the resection may be possible and in some it may not. Pancreatic cancer staging is discussed later in this document.

Pancreatic cancer is named depending on where the cancer originates. Cancers found in the ducts or the cells that produce digestive enzymes are called adenocarcinomas, and they account for the vast majority of pancreatic cancer cases. Pancreatic cancer (cancer of the pancreas) mainly occurs in people over 60. If it is diagnosed at an early stage, then an operation to remove the cancer gives some chance of a cure. Pancreatic juices, also called enzymes, help digest food in the small intestine. Insulin controls the amount of sugar in the blood.
